This salute to McCook's native son begins with a coffee mug customized with a Jeff Koterba editorial cartoon that takes special note of Ben Nelson's often-centrist political philosophy. Inside the mug is a certificate for two to "Live at the Bieroc" at the Bieroc Cafe in McCook. The event begins with a social hour followed by dinner. Each "Live at the Bieroc" also includes performances by a McCook-area musician and a headline act -- typically a traveling folk singer-songwriter who has written tunes for movies, TV shows and sometimes for nationally known entertainers. Dessert is served at intermission. A 13-by-17-inch color print of the Koterba cartoon completes this uniquely Nebraska package.
